"Yo-kai Watch," a megahit comedy anime series in Japan, will go on air in North America later this month, the developer of the content said Thursday.

The program will show up on Disney XD, a U.S. cable television network specializing in cartoon programs, from Monday, as well as the Teletoon TV channel for children in Canada from Oct. 10.

The broadcasting "will greatly help the characters become better known," said an official of Level-5 Inc., the developer of Yo-kai Watch and related game products.

The anime features a boy and mischievous characters based on Japanese traditional "yokai" monsters.
