Volunteers clean up after Halloween party

posted on November 1, 2015

Volunteers have combed the streets of the Shibuya district in Tokyo to collect garbage left by crowds of Halloween party-goers.

Thousands dressed up in colorful costumes on Saturday night for a party in the heart of the district, which is known as a center for youth fashion and culture.

Riot police were on hand into the early hours to maintain order.

The revelers left behind food and drink containers and pieces of clothing. Some took garbage with them as they left.

A 23-year-old man who works in Shibuya said the party attracted more people than in previous years, so there was also more garbage.
