Toshiba preparing to sue former executives

posted on October 26, 2015

Officials at Japanese electronics giant Toshiba are preparing to take legal action against former executives over an accounting scandal.

3 former presidents, Hisao Tanaka, Norio Sasaki and Atsutoshi Nishida, are among executives expected to be sued for damages.

The final decision will be made after an external report on individual responsibility comes out in early November.

Toshiba set up a panel of 3 independent lawyers in September to look into involvement of its executives in accounting irregularities at the company. The lawyers have been interviewing nearly 100 people.

The current president, Masashi Muromachi, will likely not be sued. He was serving as chairman when accounting irregularities were taking place at the firm.
