Soccer: Gamba retains Emperor's Cup title

In Japanese football, Gamba Osaka has retained the Emperor's Cup title by defeating Urawa Reds 2-1 in the annual tournament final.

The match was played in Tokyo on New Year's Day, the last day of the Japanese football season. The stadium was packed with more than 43,000 spectators.

Brazilian striker Patric scored an opener for Gamba in the 32nd minute of the first half.

Urawa's striker Shinzo Koroki equalized 4 minutes later.

In the second half, Patric scored again in the 8th minute.
