Faults under Monju seen as not active

A panel of researchers reached a consensus on Wednesday that there are apparently no active faults running beneath important facilities at the Monju prototype fast breeder nuclear reactor, a member of the country's nuclear regulatory body said.

Members of the panel commissioned by the Nuclear Regulation Authority backed the view that there is no evidence that a fault under the reactor building moved in the past 120,000 to 130,000 years.
