Fast Retailing logs record net profit on strong Asian sales

Fast Retailing Co. said Thursday it posted a record group net profit of 110.03 billion yen ($918 million) for the business year through August, lifted by robust performance in Asia.

The figure marks a 47.6 percent rise from the previous year. The operator of the Uniqlo casual clothing chain said its consolidated operating profit gained 26.1 percent to 164.46 billion yen on sales of 1.68 trillion yen, up 21.6 percent.

The retailer expects 115 billion yen in group net profit for the business year that began in September, with an operating profit of 200 billion yen on revenue of 1.9 trillion yen.
