Asahi Kasei unit worker involved in 41 projects

An employee of Asahi Kasei Construction Materials Corp. at the center of a data-manipulation scandal related to a tilting condominium in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, has taken part in a total of 41 construction projects across Japan since January 2004, its parent said Thursday.

The projects are located in nine of the country's 47 prefectures.
The parent company, Asahi Kasei Corp. <3407>, reported to the land ministry breakdowns of 3,040 construction projects across the country, including the 41 in question, in which the unit was involved as a subcontractor.

The names of buildings built under the 3,040 projects were not disclosed out of concerns over expected drops in the values of the properties.

The report from Asahi Kasei does not show construction projects with safety hazards, the ministry said in a statement.
