Tokyo ranked top in 2015 of eight major cities around the world rated by 20 indicators focusing on the concentration of urban functions, such as top global companies and large-scale shopping centers, a Japanese survey showed Wednesday.

In the Global Power Inner City Index survey, Tokyo headed the list thanks to the presence of many headquarters of top global companies and classy restaurants, as well as convenient transportation, including railways and highways, according to the survey by the Mori Memorial Foundation.

Amenities, such as large-scale shopping centers and hospitals, also contributed to the strong performance of the Japanese capital, according to the affiliate of major real estate developer Mori Building Co.
