Kyushu Shinkansen to resume full operations

posted on April 27, 2016

The Kyushu Shinkansen is set to resume operations along its entire route on Wednesday afternoon if test runs in the morning go smoothly.

Kyushu Railway Company says it has removed a bullet train that derailed between Kumamoto and Shin-Minamata stations. The test runs between the 2 stations will start around 9 AM on Wednesday. If safety is confirmed, the first train will leave Hakata Station after 2 PM.

The trains will travel more slowly on some sections. There will be fewer runs than normal and trains will stop at every station.
