Honda celebrates handover of first planes

Japan's Honda Motor has begun full-fledged sales of its new aircraft in the United States, the world's largest business jet market.

Honda on Friday celebrated deliveries in the US of its first new small jet. Honda president and CEO Takahiro Hachigo, as well as employees from the US dealer, attended the ceremony in Arizona.

Hachigo says he wants to grow the business, which has been his company's dream. He says he looks forward to expanding sales, as the market is expected to increase globally.

The Japanese carmaker obtained a certificate from the US Federal Aviation Authority last month for the 7-seat HondaJet.

The aircraft has its engines on top of its main wings, which Honda says makes it more fuel efficient and faster than its competitors.
