Building of maglev terminal in Tokyo to start

posted on January 20, 2016

Central Japan Railway will start building a terminal in Tokyo next week for a high-speed maglev train.

The magnetically levitated trains run about 500 kilometers an hour. The company plans to have the first trains up and running by 2027.

The maglev will link Tokyo with the city of Nagoya in central Japan, about 300 kilometers away, in 40 minutes.

The rail company says the terminal will be 40 meters below the Shinkansen bullet train station at Shinagawa.
