Enjoy gorgeous floats and winter fireworks!

Every year Chichibu Shrine in Chichibu city, Saitama Prefecture holds Chichibu Night Festival on December 2nd and 3rd. The festival is known for one of the Japanese greatest float festivals, together with Gion Matsuri in Kyoto and Takayama Matsuri in Gife Prefecture. Six gigantic (20-tons) floats parade around the city all day long, and at night you can enjoy fireworks. It is rare to see winter fireworks in Japan. The main events will take place on December 3rd from 7:30pm to 10pm at the square in front of the city hall when six floats pull together and line up with beautiful fireworks in the background. To see this big event, over two hundred thousands people visit the city from all over Japan, so if you want to keep a good spot, you'd better go there early. Chichibu city is located 90 minutes from central Tokyo.
